Based on your answers so far, a trust, minor children, or a larger family split, this isn't a simple self-serve case. A broker will make sure it's done right. It's free to speak to one, no obligation.
Step 1 of 4
Let's start with the basics. This is what goes on the will itself.
13 digits, no spaces.
Optional. Not required for a valid will, and a will shouldn't need updating every time you move. This applies to the whole address below.
We ask this to show you the right next questions, not because your will legally requires it.
Optional, helps identify them precisely, but not required to continue.
A couple more questions before we get to how your estate is handled.
Minor children need extra care in a will, so we route those cases to a consultant.
For example, an existing family trust or assets that need to move through a trust.
How would you like your estate distributed?
Want a three-way split, specific gifts, or a trust-led structure? That needs a consultant, not this self-serve draft. Speak to someone now
Who would you like to leave everything to?
South African law gives you freedom of testation: you can leave your estate to whoever you choose, related or not.
Your spouse/partner receives 50%. Your children share the remaining 50% equally.
For more than four children, we'd rather have a consultant make sure the wording is exactly right. Speak to someone now
If that beneficiary dies before you, what should happen?
They will inherit in equal shares if your primary beneficiary cannot inherit.
If your spouse/partner does not survive you, what should happen to their 50%?
Who should be the backup beneficiary?
This is the person who deals with the practical side after you die: paying off debts, closing accounts, and handing your assets to whoever inherits them. It can be a family member, a friend, your broker, or an attorney. We've suggested the person you named in step 1, change it if you'd rather name someone else.
Your executor can also be your beneficiary, that's fine. But your executor, your beneficiary, and either of their spouses can't also act as one of your two witnesses when you sign, or that person loses their inheritance and/or the executor role. See the signing step for the full rule.
In case your first choice can't act when the time comes.
This gives you the number on-screen immediately. It is an estimate, not a gate to speaking to someone.

Calculated from the ID number you entered earlier.
This 25% loading only affects the optional policy estimate, not the estate-cost calculation itself.
Use today's rough value of property, cars, savings, investments, life insurance, and other assets.
Use 0 if no property transfer is expected.
Your estimate stays visible here. Speaking to an adviser is optional and does not unlock the number.
Downloading this document doesn't make it valid. You still need to print it and sign it correctly with two witnesses. The next screen walks you through exactly what that involves, read it before you sign anything.

Leave your details and a Vision Brokers broker will call you back. It's free, and there's no obligation.
A will only becomes legally valid once it's signed correctly. Electronic signatures don't count for wills, so this part happens on paper.
Have a broker walk you through your will or answer any questions.
When you die, winding up your estate costs money. A short questionnaire tells us where to send you.
So the broker knows who to call.
This goes to a Vision Brokers broker first, who'll get quotes from the relevant provider on your behalf, not straight to an insurer.
Do you have a preference for who covers this?
We'll use your answers to point you to the right place. Existing Discovery clients usually go to Vision Direct, Capital Legacy preferences go to Capital Legacy, and if you're not sure, a Vision Brokers broker will help you decide between providers.
